Jake Bugg, Wed 13 March, Radio Day Stage, SXSW 2013

Jake came on late to an enthusiastic reception in a packed room. The three piece band generated some great rhythms like the driving train sound of Johnny Cash's band.

He didn't talk much beyond introducing each song, but played an exciting set, with great poise. He's also a very accomplished musician, with rhythm licks reminiscent of Wilko Johnson or Peter Townshend and some good lead breaks.

A great showcase set. His convincing and confident performance will have won many admirers in the audience.
