Dawes, Stages on Sixth, Weds 13 Mar, SXSW 2013

Great conversational tone to the songs, with lyrics which were touching and funny, with brilliant lines about the special kind of sadness you get in LA, and wanting a bit of everything.

It felt like the band were serving the songs up, making every word easy to catch, while playing great stripped back Allman Brothers and Eagles -style country rock.

There were really good songs and the playing was really relaxed and comfortable. An awesome set.
