SXSW brings many surprises. a band you see while waiting for the next act can Singer's vocal style was slightly reminiscent of Lily Allen with a bit of Vanessa Paradis and a little bit of Amy Winehouse or Paloma Faith although without (the range or) theatrics. Keyboard player doubled up on saxophone combined with some ska beats and rhythms for their second song, which again made me think of Lily. There's a touch of Vampire Weekend to their new material too, mixed in with a bit of funk, courtesy of the sax. Closing song ('why can't I keep you') was the real winner and the one the crowd knew.
