The Lost Brothers - Barbican - London, 30 January 2013

A great duo with lovely Laurel Canyon or Simon and Garfunkel harmonies, the interval between their voices often bringing to mind Wednesday Morning 3am. The folk tinged soulful rhythms stories of lost love and Irish emigration had tones of a past era. It wasn't surprising that they recorded their first album in Portland, Or. Their songs carry hints of Americana. Their songs told stories in a gripping way. The Lost Brothers' set wasn't without joy or humour though, from their rhythm'n'blues beats to a rock and roll cover. They closed with a song called Turquoise Sky and rapturous applause.
