Papa played a high energy, dancey and rocky set. There were some great dynamics, and their interesting song shapes made for a varied set. The penultimate song had a funky riff and they really rocked out for a blinding last song, which brought to mind The Hold Steady.
The band have a top notch singing drummer, which is hopefully a sign of good things for this band. He sang mellifluously which worked well over the bands indie uptempo guitar and drum-led tunes. His voice had a great tone to his voice like a lost 70s classic rock singer songwriter, with even more than a slither of Neil Diamond in there.
